forest of dean tourist information

If you are on your holidays and would like to do some sightseeing in the UK, the Forest of Dean is one of the perfect holiday destinations in England and Britain. Whitehouse World is ideally located for the Cotswolds, the Severn Valley, Wye Valley, the Royal Forest of Dean and South Wales. Both Brian and Ann are extremely knowledgable on the area and will prove fantastic sources of information (much of which you won't get anywhere else).

Suggested places to visit for Forest of Dean local history, part of the heritage tourism in Gloucestershire:

Do you fancy a day in the English countryside? Interested in English countryside history?

  • The Forestry Commission provide numerous countryside walks, picnic sites and forest trails. Beechenhurst Lodge near Cinderford is a good place to find out more about these.
  • Dean bicycles - there are plenty of off road trails in the Forest of Dean for mountain bike riding.
  • Countryside activities - pony trekking is available in nearby Littledean, whilst angling, saliling & canoeing are all available locally.
  • The unique "Severn Bore" can be seen at its best in spring and autumn from Newnham up as far as Gloucester.
  • Many of the Forest of Dean local history attractions (top list) feature the history of the (English) countryside.
